Environmental Educational Activities

Since the beginning of the Society for the Protection of Prespa’s operation, environmental education has been a key pillar of our work. We deeply believe in the importance of knowledge and contact with nature, so that future generations can learn to love and care for it.

We collaborate with schools from all over Greece, which visit Prespa to experience its unique natural environment and cultural features — including through our activities at the traditional watermill of Agios Germanos.

We place particular emphasis on our collaboration with local schools. Together with teachers, we design environmental education activities tailored to the needs and capabilities of each age group. Each school year, we choose a central theme that forms the basis for all our activities. Through a combination of classroom and field activities, students develop a deeper connection with nature and the year’s chosen theme.

At the same time, we organize themed events inspired by global observances such as World Wetlands Day, World Migratory Bird Day, and World Environment Day. These activities are refreshed every year based on seasonality and current events.

Our goal always remains the same: to inspire the citizens of tomorrow to care about the world around them.
