Follow the Pelican

Follow the Pelican is an innovative digital initiative that brings the public closer to the lives of pelicans by allowing them to track the birds’ movements in real time. Through the app, users can explore the routes pelicans follow from wetland to wetland across the Balkans, become familiar with their life cycle, and better understand the importance of the interconnected ecosystems that support their survival.

At the same time, the initiative serves as a dynamic tool for information and awareness-raising, linking tracking data with the Society’s broader research and conservation work. It encourages engagement from both the public and the scientific community, supports citizen science initiatives, and contributes to a better understanding of the challenges pelicans and their habitats face, highlighting the need for coordinated action at both local and cross-border levels.
