10th Pan-European meeting in Germany of the European Green Belt network

Last week, from 15th to 19th October, more than 100 people from 24 countries, from the Barents Sea in the Arctic Ocean to the northern border of Greece, gathered together in the little town of Eisenach in former East Germany. In the shadow of the historic Wartburg Castle, the participants held discussions and exchanged experiences on the management and protection of the natural environment in their transboundary areas.
All in a place where, over 30 years ago, militarised zones once divided Europe in two. The SPP was also taking part, as it is a member of the European Green Belt network, which was holding its 10th Pan-European meeting in Germany. This network works for the peaceful collaboration of the peoples of Europe, as well as ecological balance and sustainable development along the length of the belt, in areas such as Prespa. The aim of the network is joint prosperity and a Europe without wars or divisions.
