Agios Germanos River in the spotlight

Agios Germanos River in the spotlight

The Society for the Protection of Prespa presents the Pre-feasibility Study on the hydromorphological rehabilitation of the Agios Germanos river, along with an extended summary that summarizes the key findings in an accessible way.

The study records and assesses the main human interventions that have altered the river’s natural flow, sediment transport and fish movement, and proposes restoration solutions aiming to reestablish natural flow and ecological continuity, safeguard the Prespa trout (Salmo peristericus) and other endemic species, and reduce erosion.

The protection and rehabilitation of the river is crucial both for nature and for the human activities that depend on it.
