Act now, before 10 September! Don’t let the EU weaken nature protection.

Right now, the very laws that safeguard Europe’s nature are under threat.
This summer, the European Commission quietly launched a “public consultation.” They call it a “simplification” of environmental laws, but in reality, it’s about dismantling them.
These laws limit pollution and extractions, protect rare species, restore wetlands, and safeguard old-growth forests. But that’s not all! They also preserve landscapes that give us clean air, fresh water, and fertile soil – all crucial for our survival. We need healthy ecosystems to thrive.
Over decades, citizens, scientists, and communities have built this shared heritage. Without these protections, our safety net unravels. Centuries-old forests could be logged with fewer limits. Wetlands that store carbon and prevent floods could be drained.
If protections are weakened:
18 million km² of land and sea could lose their protection.
Species and habitats restored over decades could disappear within years.
Essential ecosystem services, like clean water and pollination, would be at serious risk from unchecked pollution.
We notice. We care. And we will speak up.

It took decades of our collective voices to build the laws that protect people and nature. Don’t let them be undone in silence.
